Cathy Reitz on vocals, and a brassy 7piece swing band have what it takes to “be happy and put a little jazz in your heart”. The group has a blend of vocals and instruments with an expertise that delivers a full, rich musical experience.
“7Swing” was founded by musical duo Cathy and Jeff Reitz. Both come from a musical background. Leader, singer Cathy Reitz has devoted her career to the lifelong benefits of singing. Whether she is conducting choirs, teaching young musicians, performing in theater, or fronting “Cathy Reitz & 7Swing” and “the Cathy Reitz Trio”, she believes in the power of sharing music. She has performed across the Midwest in styles ranging from musical theater, classical to jazz.
Multi-instrumentalist, Jeff Reitz, owns Chippewa Valley Band Instrument Repair which helps support the music experience of students of all ages across western Wisconsin. He has played with bands and orchestras backing legends from Bob Hope and Red Skeleton to The Temptations, Johnny Mathis and Eau Claire’s own Water Street Big Band, the Mandarin Club Band and the Sue Orfield Band.
Cathy and Jeff formed “7Swing” with the intent to provide high quality blues and swing music for all occasions and ages. From upbeat large venues to small intimate settings, they have enjoyed making people happy while playing feel good music.
Members of “Cathy Reitz & 7Swing” are successful, active, established musicians from the Eau Claire area and together create a sound perfect for any event. Eight musicians, united in the knowledge that the greatest songs of all time, whether swing, jazz or pop, reach back to the blues. Their repertoire includes songs ranging from the bawdy fun of a 1920’s Speak Easy to a hip 2020’s jazz club including the Great American Songbook, Big Band Swing. Over 100 years of classics, from Bessie Smith to Etta James, Little Willie John and Maceo Parker.
